Singer-songwriter Analisa Six makes her solo debut with new album Shadows of 9. This raw document braids lo-fi garage rock with visions and tales from the other side.

Drawing upon timeless themes—facing mortality, the beauty of the shadow, the journey within, the quest for love—Six seeks personal empowerment as a soul trapped within a woman’s experience.

Throughout these nine songs, she attempts to quench the soul’s thirst, and to reach beyond the confines of reality…to ultimately break free.

“My hope with this album is that it can be a guiding light for anyone going through a dark night of the soul,” Six says. “A reminder that we are all walking this path together, and that the darkness often brings us towards the light within the self if we are brave enough to explore beyond the tragedy that is the ego. And to remember that love rules all.

Shadows of 9 came to me in a lucid vision during a time where I was exploring a spiritual awakening that spawned out of my early days in recovery. I was half in the dream world, and half in the waking world when in my mind's eye I saw a black leather-bound book sitting on a lone piano in an ethereal sky blue room. Etched on the binding in gold foil script read, “Shadows of 9.”

I knew as I awoke fully that this was something I needed to explore within the psyche of my own mind—and that is how Shadows of 9 came to fruition. The irony is that there isn’t a single piano key played on the entire album.

I channeled most of these songs while I was walking around Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, California with my canine companions. While there wasn’t a specific musical influence guiding me as I wrote, I am eternally influenced by The Beatles, David Bowie, Judas Priest, early punk, Arctic Monkeys, Shocking Blue, ’60s garage music, and ’70s heavy metal.

Shadows of 9 was recorded in Pat and Susan Kearns’ homestead “The Wild Hare” out in Joshua Tree, California in November of 2018. I am honored that I was able to work with engineer Pat Kearns, and musicians Terry Six and Ian Kashani. I am forever grateful to artist and musician Susan Kearns, who created the front cover artwork for the

album."
